The Caregiver

At no time in our country’s history have we had more people poised to become caregivers to seriously ill friends, family and complete strangers. In fact, approximately 10,000 adults reach retirement age each day in the U.S.

Why Is It Important?

There are simply not enough trained palliative care professionals to meet this need. In short, our population base still continues to grow and as well, we are largely a country of death-averse individuals who look for technological interventions to extend life when and where possible. Simply put, we’re becoming a country filled with people who are more seriously ill for a longer period of time, which means that patients and families will most likely fall through the gap when it comes to having their care needs met.

All is not lost, however. Thanks to Acclivity, there is finally a way to unify information so that all designated participants in an individual’s healthcare journey can weigh in on what’s occurring to and within, the patient. As well, caregivers can participate in the information sharing so that truly informed decisions can be made. As well, we believe it’s time to invest in large-scale caregiver education platforms. We have got to become a country of empowered caregivers — whether they are from the professional or private sector. The journey to true change might be long, but the team at Acclivity knows that now is the time - there's too much at risk for us to sit back and wait.
